FAQ

Can I take this cruise and the train on the same day?

No, it's not possible to take the train from Anchorage to Seward and make it to the cruise on time. The cruise departs at 9:30 a.m., while the train arrives in Seward at 11:05 a.m. However, you can take the train from Seward to Anchorage after the cruise. If you wish to book a round-trip train with this cruise, you can take the train from Anchorage to Seward and stay overnight in Seward the day before your cruise. Our Kenai Fjords Wildlife Cruise and 6 Hour Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise are designed to align with same-day, round-trip train transportation.

Will I see any glaciers on this cruise?

Absolutely! This cruise includes visits to two active tidewater glaciers in Aialik Bay. Depending on weather conditions, you may also have the opportunity to see Bear Glacier, the largest glacier in Kenai Fjords National Park, along with alpine glaciers nestled high in the mountains.

Will I see any whales on this cruise?

While we cannot guarantee whale sightings, our captains strategically navigate to wildlife hot spots and stay in touch with other vessels to increase the chances of spotting whales. On average, we encounter whales on 90% of our 7.5 Hour Kenai Fjords National Park Cruises. The longer duration of this cruise enhances the likelihood of witnessing these magnificent creatures.

What is the difference between this cruise and the 6-hour cruise?

The 6 Hour Kenai Fjords National Park Cruise covers one active tidewater glacier, while the 7.5 Hour Cruise visits two active tidewater glaciers. Both cruises follow a similar route, but the extended duration of the 7.5 Hour Cruise allows our captains more time to search for the best wildlife viewing opportunities along the way, especially regarding whales and other wildlife sightings.

Will I get seasick?

This tour does cross through the Gulf of Alaska for a brief period, where the open waters can be a bit rough, increasing the chances of seasickness. If you are prone to seasickness, we recommend taking motion sickness medication such as Dramamine or Bonine before the cruise. These medications are available for purchase at our check-in offices and onboard our cruises. However, please note that our half-day cruises mostly remain in protected waters, where the likelihood of experiencing seasickness is lower.

Is food included on this cruise?

Yes, a complimentary deli lunch will be provided for all guests. Additionally, we have a snack bar onboard, and you are welcome to bring your own food with you. However, please refrain from bringing glass containers and personal alcohol, as they are not permitted onboard.
